SeparationSense is built to be private by design. The sensitive details you enter — names, incomes, care arrangements, debts — stay on your own device and are not sent to us or anyone else.
What we collect
Information you enter into the calculator
Names, incomes, care nights, debts, living costs and similar figures are processed entirely in your browser to produce the estimates. This information is not transmitted to any server and we never see it. If you choose to save your model, it is stored locally on your device (browser local storage) and can be exported or cleared by you at any time.
Analytics
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand how the tool is used (pages viewed, broad location, device type) so we can improve the service. It is privacy-first and cookieless — it sets no cookies, uses no client-side state, and does not track you across sites or collect any personal data. Because nothing identifies you, there is no consent banner to deal with.
The optional AI assistant
If a “what-if” assistant is enabled and you choose to use it, the plain-English question you type and a summary of your current scenario are sent to the AI provider to generate a response. Don’t include information you’re not comfortable sharing for that purpose. The assistant is optional; the calculators are fully functional without it.
How your information is handled
- Calculator inputs: processed in-browser, stored only on your device, never sent to us.
- We do not sell, rent, or share personal information.
- We hold no database of your separation figures because they never reach us.
Your choices
- Clear your saved model any time from within the tool, or by clearing your browser storage.
- Analytics is cookieless and anonymous, so there is nothing to opt out of or withdraw.
Australian Privacy Principles
We aim to handle any personal information consistently with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles. Because the core tool is local-first, the amount of personal information that reaches us is minimal by design.
