About SeparationSense
When a relationship ends, the money questions hit immediately and all at once. SeparationSense puts them in one place — in plain English, for both households.
The problem
Australia has good tools, but they’re scattered: one calculator for child support, another for Family Tax Benefit, a generic budget planner, a tax estimator. None of them talk to each other, and none show the picture for both households at once. So the question people actually have — “after all this, can each of us actually afford to live?” — goes unanswered.
What SeparationSense does
- Estimates child support using the Australian formula.
- Builds a two-household cashflow — income, tax, debts, living costs — and shows whether each household can cover itself.
- Estimates government support (Family Tax Benefit, Parenting Payment, Rent Assistance), including the Maintenance Income Test where child support reduces FTB Part A.
- Lets you ask what-if questions and compare scenarios side by side.
What it isn’t
It isn’t advice, and it isn’t a Services Australia assessment — it’s a planning estimate to help you understand the moving parts before you talk to the people who give binding answers.
